I’ve been a little lazy with blogging lately (it happens!), but this morning I saw something on Facebook that totally inspired me.
A gentleman shared his home cleaning schedule, and the internet is now in full debate: Is it too much? Too rigid?
You’ve probably seen these posts pop up in your feed as well. You know the ones with a list of to-dos daily, weekly, monthly yearly.
My vote when asked if this is too much? Absolutely not! I love it.
What a great way to keep your home in order consistently. You may not want to follow his exact routine, but it’s a fantastic template for building your own cleaning and organizing system.
Why a Cleaning Schedule Helps
A cleaning schedule isn’t about being perfect or rigid, it’s about breaking tasks into manageable chunks so things don’t pile up (literally and figuratively!).
Here’s how it typically breaks down:
- Daily cleaning: Your everyday reset: wiping counters, dishes, tidying surfaces
- Weekly chores: Vacuuming, laundry, bathrooms… but spread over the week instead of crammed into a weekend
- Monthly tasks: Think of those things that get ignored: ceiling fans, fridge cleaning, windows, baseboards
- Yearly deep cleans: The best part? Tackling one of these each month keeps you from needing a giant Spring or Fall cleaning marathon
Make It Work for Your Home
- Some homes need more attention in certain areas than others
- Some people prefer one big cleaning day, others do better with 10 minutes a day
- The goal isn’t perfection, it’s maintenance
And If You’re Already Feeling Overwhelmed…
Let’s be honest, sometimes, no schedule in the world is going to help when you’re already drowning in clutter or behind on deep cleaning. And that’s okay!
If you need help getting things back to baseline, whether it’s organizing, downsizing, or deep cleaning, I’m here for that too.
Sometimes, the first step is asking for help, and there’s no shame in that.
